   Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Released July 2001 and Stars Ming Na and James Woods.

   The story follows scientists Aki Ross and Doctor Sid in their efforts to free Earth from a mysterious and deadly alien race known as the Phantoms, which has driven surviving humanity into “barrier cities”. They must compete against General Hein, who wishes to more violent means to end the conflict.

   The film was the first attempt to make a photorealistic rendered 3D feature film. It’s also the only Final Fantasy movie I’ve seen – good storyline but it isn’t connected to the game storylines in any way.

   And Beowulf is another 3D film released last year, it’s amazing, you could almost forget you’re watching 3D animation. I play video games all the time so I’m used to seeing 3D but people I know who aren’t used to seeing it have gone through the whole movie wondering if it was real or animated.
