Arcade Fire – The Suburbs

Track from their third album “The Suburbs” (August 2010) (MERGE RECORDS) LYRICS: In the suburbs I I learned to drive And you told me we’d never survive Grab your mother’s keys we’re leavin’ You always seemed so sure That one day we’d be fighting A suburban war your part of town against mine I saw you standing on the opposite shore But by the time the first bombs fell We were already bored We were already, already bored Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling again Kids wanna be so hard But in my dreams we’re still screamin’ and runnin’ through the yard And all of the walls that they built in the seventies finally fall And all of the houses they built in the seventies finally fall Meant nothin’ at all Meant nothin’ at all It meant nothin Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling and into the night So can you understand? Why I want a daughter while I’m still young I wanna hold her hand And show her some beauty Before this damage is done But if it’s too much to ask, it’s too much to ask Then send me a son Under the overpass In the parking lot we’re still waiting It’s already passed So move your feet from hot pavement and into the grass Cause it’s already passed It’s already, already passed! Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling Sometimes I can’t believe it I’m movin’ past the feeling again I’m movin’ past the

This is one of the few and rare (new music )bands that have “it” and the songwriting is strong. It’s up there with Supertramp, and other unique bands from the past. Hats off to this kind of cool and interesting stuff.

@ymechaie I know, I agree and I apologize if I offended you. However, they are talented regardless of what they are and at the end of the day. I wasn’t intending to argue about what Arcade Fire is or isn’t. My argument is that MuchMusic would rather ignore talented Canadian indie bands and play Stereos, These kids Wear Crowns, etc. You get the idea.

underground? really? a few things, you are the type of fan that absolutely killed arcade fire, they are a fully mainstream band. the mainstream of the mainstream. this whole faux hipster thing is something that plebs love to think of themselves when millions of people have known about them forever. go back to 2004, then you can call them an underground band

  6. firstSourthenSweet says:

@elcow10 This is the thing I hate about music. No one can agree on the same sound, for it is interpreted different ways.

@LG93X HAHA that usually happens with hipster music. They listen to good music, not because they like, because they were told to like it!

  23. NiamhReilly94 says:

@battleboy777 To be fair, I’m a 17 year old girl and I hate Greenday and love Arcade Fire, so I wouldn’t imply that people of my age group aren’t as discerning when it comes to music as your so called ‘mature 20 year olds.’

  24. LG93X says:

I came here to rip on hipster fags but ended up liking the music…
