Animated films involving fish were very popular for a while after the huge success of “Finding Nemo.” Here is a list of three great animated movies with fish as the main character. You won’t find any fish in fish tanks here, these fish are free.
Shark Tale
“Shark Tale” is a animated CGI kids movie about a young fish named Oscar, voiced by Will Smiths, who lies about killing the son of a shark mob boss so he can move up the ranks with the boss’ enemies. The film is based around the popular Italian-American gangster myths and stereotypes that were very popular in 2004 with the success of the HBO show “The Sopranoes.” Michael Imperioli, who played Chris in “The Sopranoes” even lent his voice work to a character in “Shark Tale.” There are many inside jokes about gangster movies, specifically “The Godfather”, which makes the film interesting for adults and children alike.
Finding Nemo
The hugely successful computer animated film by Pixar Studios starred the voice of Alexander Gould as Nemo, a lost clownfish. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003, proving that it was both a worldwide fiscal and critical success. Look on the shelf of any parent with a young child and you will find a copy of “Finding Nemo” since it is the best-selling DVD of all time, as well as the highest grossing G-rated film of all time.
The Little Mermaid
One of the most popular Disney films of all time, and one that is still watched and admired by young children growing up is the story “The Little Mermaid.” Ariel is a mermaid princess who saves the life of and falls in love with Prince Eric. The film is filled with a number of great animated sequences, notably the popular songs, including “Part of Your World”, “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl.”
